    In Uganda, agriculture plays a vital role in the economy, contributing approximately 19.9% of the GDP in 2020 and employing about 60% of the population. This makes it a cornerstone of the country's economic development. Notably, this percentage has increased from about 15.41% in 2018, partly due to advancements in technology. Despite Uganda's significant reliance on agriculture, the adoption of modern technologies to enhance productivity has been limited. Our project focuses on addressing this gap by developing an Automated Agricultural Chatbot model using Artificial Intelligence (AI). The model aims to address farmers' fundamental needs, including soil type, crop selection, environmental conditions, expected yields, government assistance, and access to agricultural workshops.

    The chatbot is trained to respond to various queries raised by farmers, utilizing a dataset tailored to agricultural requirements. To ensure accessibility, the chatbot supports multi-language interactions and employs search engines to provide comprehensive responses. Additionally, a suggestion bot offers versatile recommendations related to weather, crops, fertilizers, and soil management. Through this project, farmers gain access to accurate agricultural information, including optimal crop selection, suitable fertilizers, and identification of plant diseases. Moreover, it empowers users to make informed decisions regarding crop cultivation, fertilizer application, and disease management.

    Furthermore, Jaguza Farmchat serves as a responsive farmer advisory service, facilitating real-time communication between governments and farmers. This AI-powered platform leverages GPT-3.5 technology to provide data-driven insights and decision-making tools for crop, aquaculture, and livestock management. By integrating videos, audios, and agricultural call center services, it delivers actionable recommendations to farmers in Uganda and Nigeria, aiding in planting, irrigation, fertilization, and pest control strategies. The platform's virtual agronomist offers personalized advice through an intuitive chat interface, accessible via WhatsApp, Telegram, or web-based platforms. By analyzing farmers' inputs, it delivers tailored recommendations based on crop-specific needs, geographical location, and other contextual factors. In summary, these initiatives harness AI and data-driven technologies to revolutionize agricultural practices, empower farmers with knowledge, and enhance productivity in Uganda and beyond.
